How did you first learn about OST?
Many years ago, although I can't remember exactly where.
What surprised you the most about this method?
How hard it can be for people to adjust to the sense of empowerment that comes with it.
How does Open Space fit into what you do with organizations and / or communities?
It's one of many tools/practices I'm using to expand conversations that matter.

Hi, Michele -

Welcome to the Open Space world community space! Feel free to join any group you see here.

Have you read Harrison Owen's book, "Open Space Technology: A User's Guide"? If not, it is great to read the thoughts and words of this method's originator, Harrison.

If you are interested in learning further via a workshop environment - I'm offering my Open Space Learning Workshop twice this year in the US - May 15-18 and December 12-14 in San Francisco. Feel free to contact me if you would like more information about those. The workshop is for both folks with experience in OST and those who are new to it.

Or if you feel you are a more advanced user of Open Space, do know that I host an Open Space on Open Space in San Francisco each year - for folks who already use or have deeply studied OST to share their knowledge and experience in the field. This year's OSonOS is March 14-16 in San Francisco.

Do contact me directly at lisaheft@openingspace.net if you would like more information about those. If you can afford the resources for travel, I can give you a list of accommodations that include a great hostel for folks who have a tight budget - and registration prices include a pay-whatever-is-the-most-that-you-can price.

There is sometimes a workshop giving in New York though I do not see that on the calendar for this year.

Please feel free to contact me directly if I can answer any questions about Open Space,

Lisa Heft
