Profile Information
- How did you first learn about OST?
- I first came across with Open Space Technology at a communication training at the Career Center of the Humboldt University in Berlin in 2006.
- What surprised you the most about this method?
- For me it was an unusual and new way of conferencing without the conventional structure organized by a few heads aiming at specific results. Interesting also was the unimportance of hierarchy during an Open Space, which obviousely causes problems before and after the OS conference. And ... not to forget ... I do love the Law of Two Feet. :)
- How does Open Space fit into what you do with organizations and / or communities?
- I am working with service staff in the museum's environment. I planned to put a whole crowd of a big team to face to face with their supervisors and team managers. I wanted to give the "team" a voice which wasn't heard at that time. There was no real feedback culture developed, yet. Unfortunately it turned out to be more difficult to convince the decider and sponsor of Open Space. How life plays its own games, I can see now: the team found and fougth for its own way to communicate with the leading role players to change work conditions, also in a self organized way. :)

- Hi Henriette, great to connect here and thanks for your compliment :-) Likewise, I was impressed by the high level input of all of you during the workshop. Maybe we should start a discussion in this network on Citizen Participation, to share our experiences. I must say I don't only use Open Space in these settings, as an Art of Hosting practitioner, I design processes with several methodologies, according to what is the need. Nevertheless, all discussions about meaningful conversations can only be useful, what do you think?
