"Thank you, Lisa! My sister lives in SF and I would love to attend a workshop so I will keep this in mind. I have not seen any listings for workshops in Oregon or Washington; let me know if you are aware of any up here."

Profile Information

How did you first learn about OST?
Tova Averbuch's Ted Talk on Youtube - A google search for "collective wisdom" led me to her lecture on youtube.
What surprised you the most about this method?
The fact that I had never heard of it before -- correction, the feeling that I'd been discussing these ideas for years but this is the first time I learned that there is a name for it and someone has taken it much further than I ever dreamed.
How does Open Space fit into what you do with organizations and / or communities?
There is no short answer for this. It feels like I have been inventing the wheel for the last several years; and I expected it's design and introducing it to my local community to be my life's work. But last night when I learned about OST, I learned that an international community has not only finished developing the wheel but they've already attached it to a bicycle. I want to help bring the bicycle to the community of Portland, Oregon. My current work is video production, web design and photography. I'm not yet sure how what I do fits with organizations and communities so I really don't know how Open Space fits into it - only that it fits.

Hi, Abigail - do feel free to contact me directly at lisaheft [at] openingspace [dot] net .

There are only a few of us colleagues in the world who give workshops for folks to share learning about Open Space. I think we all know each other (!).

I give several workshops a year in San Francisco and wherever else I am hosted (this year probably in Colombia, South America and in London, England). If you are associated with an organization (such as a university for example) that would like to host me - you can bring me to your region. Otherwise do contact me directly with your email and I can put you on a list of folks who are interested in learning more. This year so far the closest workshops to you regionally are the May and December San Francisco workshops - though sometimes other events pop up.

If you can afford the transport - the registration fees are always completely flexible, if budget is an issue. And of course staying with your sister helps your resources as well. Contact me and I can send you more information about content, schedule and the pricing overview...

So feel free to contact me at lisaheft [at] openingspace [dot] net if you want more info about those.
